The Neurology Department of Brain Center at Zhejiang Hospital is established in 1998. Currently, there are 22 physicians, including 10 senior titles and 20 holding master degrees and Ph.D. Currently, it’s a stroke screening and prevention base awarded by the Brain Prevention Commission of the National Health Commission, The Stroke Center awarded by the Chinese Stroke Association, Zhejiang Provincial Stroke Alliance Unit, and the Cryptogenic Stroke Screening Base; the “e-PA Alliance Unit” of The National Center for Geriatric Research, and China Parkinson's Disease Alliance Unit. Among them, the two subspecialties of cerebrovascular diseases and neurodegenerative diseases are the key construction specialties of the hospital.

Currently, the diagnosis and treatment of the following diseases are mainly conducted at the Department:

1. Cerebrovascular diseasetake the lead in the province in establishing the Stroke Unit, conduct acute phase treatment and vascular assessment of various types of vascular diseases, secondary prevention and rehabilitation. Cooperate with the Emergency Department, Department of Radiology and Department of Intervention in performing hyperearly arteriovenous thrombolysis and thrombectomy treatment of acute ischemic stroke.

2.  Movement disorder diseases and neurodegenerative diseases: including the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson's disease and motor disorders, senile dementia-related diseases, motor neuron disease and other diseases; Botox treatment of blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm and torticollis.

3.  Epilepsy: Conduct dynamic EEG and long-range video EEG monitoring; with rich experiences in diagnosis and treatment of first-onset epilepsy, diagnosis and treatment of intractable epilepsy, and diagnosis and treatment of status epilepticus.

4.  Peripheral neuromuscular-related diseases: including peripheral nerve diseases such as Guilam Barre syndrome, facial nerve paralysis and trigeminal neuralgia; various types of myopathy and periodic paralysis and other diseases.

5.  Treatment of central nervous system infection and related encephalopathy: such as diagnosis and treatment of viral encephalitis, metabolic-related encephalopathy, poisoning encephalopathy and immune-related encephalopathy.

6. Demyelinating diseases: such as the diagnosis and treatment of diseases as disseminated sclerosis, neuro-optic myelitis and inflammatory pseudotumor, etc;

7. Dizziness, headache: introduce the first earstone reduction instrument in the province, and conduct clinical diagnosis and treatment of dizziness-related diseases; specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of various headaches.

8. Genetic testing, consultation and diagnosis and treatment of neurogenetic diseases;

9. Diagnosis and treatment of various critical, difficult and rare diseases in the nervous system.

Assuming as Member of the Stroke Prevention Expert Committee of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, Member of the Geriatric Expert Committee of Geriatric Neurology Committee of Chinese Gerontology Society, Member of Neurology Society of Zhejiang Medical Association, Member of Neurologist Branch of Zhejiang Medical Doctor Association, Vice Chairman of Cardiovascular Treatment Professional Committee of Zhejiang Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, and part-time professor at Zhejiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has been focusing on the diagnosis and treatment and research of cerebrovascular diseases for a long time, and has also carried out the clinical diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and epilepsy. He takes the lead in conducting the intravascular interventional treatment such as carotid artery stenosis, intracranial aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation, and has gradually conducted the research on stem cell transplantation for neurological diseases, and has completed the model establishment of small pig carotid atherosclerosis and the research of carotid artery endovascular ultrasound. He has published more than 20 papers, including 8 collected in SCI.

Went to the Brain Centre of the Royal Hospital, Melbourne, Australia for further study in 2017. Qiao Song, chief physician, Deputy Director of Neurology Department at Zhejiang Hospital, postgraduate candidate. Graduated from the Department of Neurology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Jilin University, and started working at Zhejiang Hospital in 2005. He has been engaged in clinical work in the Department of Neurology for a long time, Member of Neuromuscular Group of Neurology Branch of Zhejiang Medical Association. Specialized in clinical diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, muscle and peripheral nerve diseases, epilepsy, neurological diseases and other diseases.
