The General Surgery Department of Zhejiang Hospital is established in 1954, with a development history of more than 60 years, it has a certain popularity in the province, and it is a clinical specialty integrating scientific research, teaching and medical treatment. There are 2 chief physicians, 4 associate chief physicians, 3 attending physicians and 8 resident doctors at the department. Some senior doctors in the department have the research and training experience of the European Academy of Surgery. Our department mainly carries out thyroid, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, gastrointestinal, hernia and abdominal wall and vascular surgery. The current regular surgical operations undertaken including Brunschwig’s operation, radical surgery for liver cancer, operation of biliary tumor, laparoscopic radical resection of gastric cancer + D2 lymph node dissection, laparoscopic radical resection of colon cancer, laparoscopic splenectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic fenestrated drainage of the hepatic cyst, laparoscopic appendectomy and Laparoscopic hernia repair. Laparoscopic surgery is the representative of truly minimally invasive surgery, with greatly reduced trauma, fast postoperative recovery, less pain, and does not affect the appearance after healing. Taking the lead in the province to carry out the multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment (MDT) model for patients with hepatobiliary, pancreatic and gastrointestinal tumors, and there is a professional multidisciplinary team at the department conducting a comprehensive evaluation and discussion of individualized surgery, chemotherapy and chemotherapy regimen, and proposing the best treatment plan suitable for patients. Currently,  the department has presided over several provincial and ministerial and bureau level projects, and participated in one project research of National Natural Science Foundation of China, dozens of papers have been published by the department on core journals, including several SCI papers, and the department is undertaking the tasks of standardized training of resident doctors for Zhejiang Province and the clinical practice teaching tasks for Zhejiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
