Multidisciplinary exchange for rapid recovery of thoracic surgery patients

 Hits: 3040 Time: 2019-11-15

In the autumn, the golden laurel on the branches can't fade away the last fragrance, but the fruit trees in the hospital are already full of yellow fruits. On November 7, the anesthesiology department and all thoracic surgeons held the "Zhejiang Hospital Thoracic Surgery Rapid Recovery Seminar" in the classroom of the anesthesia and surgery center of Sandun Branch at noon. We were honored to invite Professor Yang Yunhai from Shanghai Chest Hospital, whose uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery is unique and famous in the world. Under his guidance we completed a case of posterior mediastinal tumor resection. After the operation, Prof. Yang, despite his hard work, gave a wonderful lesson "Enhanced Recovery After Minimally Invasive Lung Cancer Surgery (ERAS)", introducing the experience of Shanghai Chest Hospital.

Dr. Chen Guoping, Director of Thoracic Surgery, said, "In the past 20 years, thoracic surgery and anesthesiology have developed rapidly, and the concept and procedure of thoracic surgery have made a qualitative leap. Minimally invasive surgery has become the mainstream of thoracic surgery today, and there are few major surgeries that need to open the chest and break the ribs in the traditional sense anymore. After years of development, minimally invasive surgery now accounts for more than 80% of the total number of surgeries, and the difficulty of minimally invasive surgery is still rising."

Xia Yanfei, director of the Department of Anesthesiology, said, "Anesthesiology and thoracic surgery are two departments that need to work closely with each other, and relying on the continuous improvement of minimally invasive surgery skills in thoracic surgery and the skillful operation of anesthesia and the tacit understanding between the two sides, in the past 2 years, the new technology of "thoracoscopic surgery with autonomous breathing and non-intubation anesthesia" we have carried out has exceeded 100 cases. "From simple alveolar resection to more complex lobectomy/pulmonary segment resection, we have gained and experienced, but also have questions and doubts. We can sit down together to learn and discuss and summarize our experience, which has a very good meaning for the next further cooperation and development of our two departments. "

Dr. Zhang Lei of Thoracic Surgery showed a video sharing of a case of thoracoscopic right middle lung lobectomy with autonomic breathing anesthesia, and Professor Yang Yunhai commented on it. We also invited Dr. Zhu Li Yue and Dr. Wu Aiping, the deputy director of rehabilitation department, Nurse Ma Yan, the head nurse of thoracic surgery department, Ni Ya Jun and Zhang Li Ying, the head nurse of operation room, etc. to attend the meeting together to exchange experiences and discuss the work on rapid rehabilitation of patients undergoing thoracic surgery in our hospital.

Although the scale of this academic meeting was small, the atmosphere of academic discussion was very enthusiastic. We all agreed that the integrated treatment and rapid recovery of lung cancer patients cannot be achieved without the efforts of various departments, and that regular multidisciplinary exchanges can promote the cooperation and development of related disciplines in our hospital, enhance the business level of our "Integrated Lung Cancer Center (iLCC)", and strive to build a high-level multidisciplinary rapid recovery team.
