Just this past Mid-Autumn Festival, Xue Huizhi, a member of our hospital's poverty alleviation working group in the village, visited and consoled the low-income households in Weifeng Village of He Tian Township on behalf of the hospital, and sent moon cakes made by the hospital canteen to the poor families. The villagers were very happy and said "the national policy is good" and "the country cares about us".

According to the deployment of the provincial government and the arrangement of Kaihua County Government, from 2018 to 2022, our hospital is responsible for twinning to help Weifeng Village in He Tian Township, Kaihua County, Quzhou City. The village is located in the middle of He Tian Township, consisting of 8 natural villages, with a total of 368 households, a total population of 1,230 people, 37 party members, a village area of 10.08 square kilometers, a mountainous forest area of 2,385 mu (1.59 square kilometers) and an arable land area of 650 mu. The village is a low-income farming concentration village with more than 30 low-income farming households.In 2018, the village collective operating income was 10,000 yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was less than 8,000 yuan. The main economic source of farmers is to work outside and tea income, and the leading industry of the village is tea.

Since the twinning support, our institute attaches great importance to the work, immediately set up a twinning support working group, directly under the supervision of Yan Jing, secretary of the party committee of our institute, Chen Yuhong, member of the party committee and director of the party and government comprehensive office, as the head of the working group, with one resident member Xue Huizhi stationed in the village to participate in the daily management and economic construction of Weifeng village, and four non-resident members Yang Jie, Huang Xiongnong, Huang Hong and Xu Coral arrive once a month to participate in the twinning support Work. We have made many efforts to improve the collective economic income of Weifeng Village and the income of low-income farmers.

On April 26, Yan Jing, secretary of the Party Committee of our hospital, Chen Yuhong, member of the Party Committee and director of the Party and Government Office, Lin Jian, director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and executive vice president of Kaihua County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and other experts went to He Tian Township Weifeng Village for research and guidance to discuss the work of eliminating thinness in Weifeng Village. After listening to the introduction of the main leaders of He Tian Township, Secretary Yan Jing took a position on the twinning support work. He said, first of all, our hospital will play the hospital's professional expertise, such as the introduction of medical projects, He Tian people to provide free health screening, to help farmers better health management, so that farmers spend less money; secondly, the hospital can use the Institute and other assistance to carry out various types of testing work; the hospital will also actively assist in contacting enterprises, etc., to further broaden the market of freshwater fish and other agricultural products in Hangzhou and other places. The hospital will make efforts to increase the income of Weifeng village collectively and low-income farmers.

Understand the village situation and public opinion

Chen Yuhong, a member of the Party Committee, director of the Party and Government General Office, and leader of the twinning support working group, is responsible for the overall arrangement of the working group, and has visited the village many times to investigate the cultivation and distribution of agricultural products, visit farmers, care about the production and living conditions of farmers, assist the village in solving difficulties and give work guidance.

The non-resident members are the key personnel of various clinical departments, and they even use their professional skills to help the villagers share their disease troubles. In particular, Dr. Huang Xiongyang, deputy director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of our hospital, has repeatedly gone into the homes of people in need with his colleagues from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine to provide intimate medical services. One farmer had an accidental injury that caused a limb disorder, so he came to his home many times to guide the rehabilitation exercise, and sometimes people around him would bring films and reports to seek medical consultation, and every time he went to the village, it was like a small charity clinic.

The permanent cadre Xue Huizhi has been stationed in Weifeng village since the beginning of this year. Since entering the village, she spent most of her time in the fields and chatted with the villagers for an hour. The resident cadres assume the role of a bridge between the hospital and Weifeng Village, and convey the demands of the village community and villagers to the hospital in time, and then use their collective wisdom to seek solutions to various problems. A real poverty alleviation work should not only plan industries for the collective, but also do some small things for the villagers, and helping villagers to buy medicine and ask for medical treatment has also become a common thing for her.

Invite experts for technical support

On March 14, the expert Wang Jiangang, president of Kaihua County Chinese herbal medicine association, was invited to visit Weifeng village and gave much guidance on herbal medicine planting.

On the morning of March 29, Lan Xiaoguang, the chairman of bamboo branch of Chinese Forestry Association and former chief engineer of Provincial Forestry Department, He Zhihua, the director of Science and Technology Department of Provincial Forestry Bureau, Huang Xuemin, the director of Bamboo Craft Professional Committee of Chinese Arts and Crafts Society, Wang Kuihong, the president of Zhejiang Forestry Investigation and Planning Institute, Xie Jinzhong, the researcher of Asian Forestry Institute of Chinese Academy of Forestry, and Weng Fujin, the secretary general of Zhejiang Bamboo Industry Association, were invited by the hospital to Hetian Township Weifeng village investigation and research. On August 22, Wang Kuihong, president of Zhejiang Forestry Research and Planning Institute, and Fang Yanjie, deputy director of the planning and design department, came to Weifeng Village again to carry out preliminary research on forestry ecological industry in Weifeng Village.

On April 27, the hospital invited Guo Huawei, a senior agronomist of the Chinese Tea Institute, to explain "tea planting management" to the villagers, including the theory of tea garden pest and disease control, and went to the farmer's tea garden for field diagnosis and guidance. Luo Lixin, an emergency medicine physician of our hospital and an AHA senior training instructor, gave a lecture on "First Aid for Accidental Injuries" to the villagers. 

Combine with the actual village to help increase collective income

In March this year, after discussion with Weifeng Village, Kaihua Weifeng Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. was established in the name of the village collective, and our hospital assisted the village collective in selling tea for more than 40,000 yuan. We assisted the village of Weifeng to open a Taobao store, and in the second half of the year, we intend to adopt the collective plus farmers model to sell more agricultural products.

At the same time, the hospital and the village collective jointly planned to plant 60 mu of organic rice, through the application of farm fertilizer, no pesticides and other ways to achieve organic planting, and contact resources on the sale of organic rice.

Continue to make efforts to explore long-term development mechanism

Next, our hospital will continue to take advantage of the advantages and resources, play the hospital's medical expertise to provide more medical services for the villagers of Weifeng, combine with the planning of the Provincial Forestry Survey and Planning Institute to further plan the development of the village, explore a sustainable long-term development mechanism, plan industries, and help villagers live a healthy and happy life!
