In the early autumn of September, with a high autumnal temperature and the dark fragrance of osmanthus, the 2nd Zijin Cerebrovascular Disease Summit Forum and the inaugural meeting of the Professional Committee for Precision Diagnosis and Treatment of Cerebrovascular Diseases of the Zhejiang Mathematical Society was held at Jinxi Villa on the shore of Xizi Lake, sponsored by the Zhejiang Preventive Medicine Society, the Zhejiang Mathematical Society and our hospital, and hosted by our brain center.

On September 7, the opening ceremony of the 2nd Zijin Cerebrovascular Disease Summit Forum and the inaugural meeting of the Professional Committee for Precise Diagnosis and Treatment of Cerebrovascular Diseases of Zhejiang Mathematical Medicine Society was held at Jinxi Villa. Hong Chaoyang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president of our hospital, Wan Shu, assistant to the president and director of the Brain Center, as well as cerebrovascular disease experts from all over the country gathered together to plan the new development of cerebrovascular disease.

On behalf of our hospital, he expressed his sincere welcome to all the experts and scholars and warm congratulations on the grand convening of the conference. He also congratulated the official establishment of the Professional Committee of Precision Diagnosis and Treatment of Cerebrovascular Diseases of Zhejiang Mathematical Medicine Society.

Hong Chaoyang said, on November 4, 2018, our brain center was officially established, based on "brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerve" and other neurological diseases as the core, integrating neurology, neurosurgery, neurointervention and neurophysiology and other related disciplines, using one-stop, all-round, standardized management concept, under the leadership of Director Wan Shu to establish a modern neurology medical treatment center that truly achieves full integration of multidisciplinary, subspecialty complementary advantages.

This forum will uphold the spirit of "collaboration, interaction, improvement and innovation", focus on the hot spots and difficulties in the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular disease, reflect the concept of "precision" and "minimally invasive", and jointly discuss new technologies, new models, new ideas and new methods of cerebrovascular disease diagnosis and treatment. He said, "This will be a multidisciplinary collision and integration of ideas on cerebrovascular disease. We also hope that the brand of 'Zijin Cerebrovascular Disease Summit Forum' can build a platform for experts and scholars from neurosurgery, neurology, neuroimaging, neurorehabilitation, emergency medicine and neurological nursing to communicate with each other, learn together, exchange skills and show their achievements. Today, coinciding with the opening of the Science and Technology Activity Week of our hospital, this year, is also the 65th anniversary of the founding of the hospital, I hope this forum will play a positive role in promoting the further development of related fields in our hospital, and I sincerely thank the leaders, experts and scholars for their continued care and support!"

Zhu Jiang, Secretary General of Zhejiang Preventive Medicine Society, delivered a speech on behalf of the Society. He hoped that the Professional Committee for Precise Diagnosis and Treatment of Cerebrovascular Diseases would lead relevant medical units in preventing and treating diseases and carrying out research on new technologies, while strengthening the public's awareness of cerebrovascular diseases and reducing the damage caused by strokes to families and society.

Kong Dexing, chairman of Zhejiang Mathematical Medicine Society, delivered a speech on behalf of the association. He said that cerebrovascular diseases are characterized by "high morbidity, high mortality and high disability" in China, and he hoped that the committee would lead the medical personnel of cerebrovascular diseases in the province to strengthen the research on the precise diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases and promote the continuous improvement of clinical treatment technology for the benefit of the general public.

Ren Min, deputy secretary general of Zhejiang Mathematical Medicine Society, presided over the inaugural meeting of the committee and announced the names of the chairman, deputy chairman and standing members of the committee. Wan Shu was elected as the first chairman of the committee. Wan Shu firstly expressed his heartfelt thanks to Zhejiang Mathematical Medicine Society and hoped that in the future work, relying on the platform of Zhejiang Mathematical Medicine Society, the committee would strengthen cooperation, promote the integrated development of industry-academia-research, explore the multidisciplinary and standardized treatment mode, realize the precision medical treatment of cerebrovascular disease and promote the comprehensive and sustainable development of cerebrovascular disease diagnosis and treatment in our province.

After that, the 2nd Zijin Cerebrovascular Disease Summit Forum officially started, and many experts from inside and outside the province took the progress and technical innovation of cerebrovascular disease as the entry point and conducted extensive and in-depth exchanges and discussions. Prof. Liu Jianmin from Changhai Hospital attached to the Naval Medical University brought "Current Situation and Challenges of Stroke Treatment in China", Prof. Kong Dexing from Zhejiang University brought "Frontier Advances in Mathematical Medicine and Precise Treatment of Cerebrovascular Diseases", Prof. Zhang Jianmin from the Second Hospital attached to Zhejiang University School of Medicine brought "Intracranial Veins and Brain Injury" ...... The great experts gathered Together, they discussed the new trends in the development of cerebrovascular diseases, the new technology of treatment and the new development in the future.

The participants expressed that this feast of academic greats let them appreciate the most cutting-edge concepts and technologies of cerebrovascular disease, which will also bring far-reaching impact on clinical work.

Wan Shu said that our hospital established the Cerebral Center in November 2018, with multidisciplinary collaboration of neurology, neurosurgery, neurointervention, and neuroelectrophysiology, adopting a one-stop, all-round, and standardized management concept in order to achieve full integration of various disciplines and complementary subspecialty advantages, which is also the first of its kind in Zhejiang Province.

In the past 10 months since its establishment, the Brain Center has received more than 20,000 patients, with more than 1,000 emergency cases (including about 50% of critical patients). The neurointerventional team has completed more than 700 interventions, including more than 260 interventions, covering various cerebrovascular diseases such as intracranial aneurysm, cerebral arteriovenous malformation, acute ischemic stroke and intracranial and extracranial arterial stenosis, with surgical complications controlled within 2% and no technology-related errors. The quantity and quality of comprehensive treatment has been ranked among the top in the province. The neurosurgery team completed a total of 300 surgeries, which is a leap forward in both quality and quantity compared to previous years. The number of patients admitted to the neurology department and the number of difficult and critical cases have reached a record high, with a total of nearly 1,500 discharges in the past 10 months and a cure and improvement rate of more than 98%.

Wan Shu said that the exploration and achievements of this nearly one year have fully proved that the multidisciplinary integration of the brain center is efficient for patients. Whether in the outpatient clinic or in the ward, the barriers of neurology, neurosurgery and neurointerventional departments are completely broken, and multidisciplinary doctors jointly follow up patients to achieve rationalized and standardized comprehensive treatment of brain diseases. After the establishment of the Brain Center, not only the residents in the vicinity of the hospital's Sandun Hospital have benefited, but also a wider range of residents as the stroke team continues to expand, and the new model of the multidisciplinary Brain Center is also leading the new exploration and development of cerebrovascular disease treatment.

At the same time, the first "Zijin Discussion" seminar on difficult cases of cerebrovascular diseases was held at the same time, which opened up new horizons for the participants from a multidisciplinary perspective.

The three-day summit forum was attended by hundreds of participants, and many famous experts and scholars in China shared their views on the topic, so we are looking forward to the next academic feast together.
