The first aid is fast, the drill is effective, and the actual combat is sure -- the Nursing Department of Zhejiang Hospital successfully carried out the drill of Group Injury Emergency Plan

 In order to improve the emergency response ability to deal with large-scale public health emergencies and standardize the emergency response and rescue process, on June 28, 2019, the nursing department of Zhejiang Hospital carefully organized and planned the group injury emergency plan exercise in the two hospitals on the first anniversary of the official opening of Sandun Hospital of Zhejiang Hospital.

The nursing department organized the head nurse, first aiders of various departments and trainee nurses of simulated wounded. A total of more than 140 people from the two hospitals attended. In the form of emergency gathering and field exercise, 10 people in Lingyin Hospital and 15 people in Sandun Hospital were rescued, focusing on the assessment of emergency response process, emergency zoning, station position, responsibilities and treatment of key diseases, such as multiple injuries, cardiac arrest, hemorrhagic shock, emergency treatment of fractures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, use of defibrillator, etc.

Simulation Drill scenario I (Lingyin Hospital area)

At 14: 00, Zhu Chunya, a nurse at the triage desk of the emergency department of Lingyin Hospital, received the instruction from the Municipal 120 Command Center. A major accident occurred on Jingzhou Road. There were 10 wounded on the scene in urgent need of treatment, and the ambulance will arrive within 15 minutes. The nurse who answered the phone immediately reported to the Department Director, Head Nurse and Head Nurse on duty and asked for support; register the number of wounded, degree of injury, contact number, etc. After receiving the notice, the medical department and nursing department shall immediately start the emergency plan for hospital emergencies, allocate nursing manpower and instruments in place, and bring rescue items according to the division of labor. The rescue workers listened to the command and arrangement of nurse Han Wei and immediately prepared for the reception. Meanwhile, contact the operating room, ICU and ward to prepare for receiving patients.

 At 14: 15, two 120 ambulances arrived at the emergency room successively. The medical staff of the triage team immediately evaluated and inspected the wounded, and made red, yellow and green marks on the critically ill, severely ill and slightly ill patients according to the severity of their condition. The wounded were shunted to Red area (2 persons), Yellow area (4 persons) and Green area (4 persons) for further treatment.

Simulation Drill scenario II (Sandun Hospital area)

At 14: 45, Bai Fangfang, a nurse at the emergency triage desk in Sandun Hospital, received an emergency call to inform that a shed collapsed and 15 people were injured for medical treatment. The wounded will arrive in 10 minutes. Immediately, the nurse immediately started the emergency process of group injury in the whole hospital, telephone notification and reporting, personnel response, logistics material reserve, etc. At 14: 50, ambulances came one after another, and the emergency personnel followed the command and arrangement of Nurse Zhang Zhufeng and Nurse Zhang Lanjun. The 15 wounded were arranged to the Red Area resuscitation room (1 person), the Red area rescue room (2 persons), the Yellow area emergency ward (3 persons) and the Green area infusion room (9 persons).

There are 1 Emergency itinerant nurse, 1 observer, 1 nursing team leader and several emergency personnel in the Red, Yellow and Green areas of the two hospitals. Head Nurse Lin Chen followed up the whole process in Lingyin Hospital area, and Chen Fang, Deputy Director of Nursing Department, followed up the whole process in Sandun Hospital area.

The group injury emergency plan drill was conducted simultaneously by the two hospitals and districts, and the drill time was about 30 minutes, but there were still differences in the drill process. In Lingyin hospital area, the first drill was conducted, and then the emergency specialist nurse Zhang Xiaomei conducted the rescue standard training. After the emergency specialist nurse Deng Yayin trained in Sandun Hospital area, the emergency drill officially began. During the exercise, one drowning patient and one vertigo patient in the Lingyin Hospital came to the emergency room for treatment. Nurse Song Zhongwei, the nursing team leader of Area A participating in the exercise, immediately commanded the drill personnel to move the site to Area B, and the emergency room nurse immediately gave first aid to the drowning patient. Although the drill sequence is different and there are emergencies, there is no doubt that the emergency judgment, emergency operation, emergency cooperation and emergency process mastery of the drill personnel are excellent.

At 16:00, the drill ended temporarily. Deputy Director Chen Fang presided over the analysis meeting. The nursing commander in chief, district observers, district leaders, all emergency personnel and the "wounded" participated in the speech and listening, summarized the advantages, pointed out the deficiencies and made rectification.

The successful emergency treatment of group wounded can not only reflect the medical and nursing level of the hospital, but also measure the organization and management ability of the hospital. Through this emergency drill, we have improved our command, organization and coordination ability in dealing with emergencies, consolidated and enhanced our emergency response ability in dealing with emergencies, which is of great significance to ensure the safety of patients, and laid a foundation for truly achieving "Speed of First Aid, Effectiveness of Drill and Assurance of Actual Combat" in our future work.
