With the change of population structure, the situation of aging is severe. For a long time to come, long-term care issues will plague many countries and regions. In order to promote the sustainable development of long-term care services in the WCA, the 16th WCA Long-term Care Conference and Zhejiang Geriatrics Alliance Conference and Zhejiang Geriatrics Specialty Alliance Academic Conference, organized by the WCA Long-term Care Consortium and hosted by Zhejiang Hospital, was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province from November 15 to November 18, 2019, with the theme of " Integration - Technology - Quality - Innovation" was the theme of the conference. Renowned experts and scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as the United States, Japan and Korea attended and delivered keynote speeches to discuss long-term care and depict the blueprint of geriatric health.

Yan Jing introduced in his speech that Zhejiang Hospital has been committed to providing better health services for elderly patients, and has done a lot of pioneering work in the field of geriatrics, completed a number of national key projects, the hospital has achieved fruitful results in high-level medical association, geriatric specialty alliance, geriatric chronic disease management, etc. Zhejiang Hospital has hosted the medical care ward of West Lake District Hospital of Integrative Medicine, opened a multidisciplinary integration It has built a medical-mainly integrated platform for medical care and health care, and constructed a "West Lake model" for seamless referral between hospitals, communities and families in big cities, opening up the "last mile" of integrated medical care and health care services. Every year, we carry out standardized training for long-term care personnel in Zhejiang Province, and actively promote the establishment and improvement of the integrated medical care and health care service system in Zhejiang Province. It is believed that through the sharing and communication of the conference, it will provide valuable reference and help for the development of topics in the field of long-term care and actively respond to the aging of the population.

 

Liu Weilin said that population aging is a basic national condition that always runs through the 21st century in China, and actively dealing with population aging is a long-term development strategy in China. It is not only an important initiative to implement the spirit of the important speeches and instructions of the national leaders on strengthening the work of aging and to carry out the action of actively dealing with population aging, but also an important grasp to implement the national education on the national condition of population aging from the combination of theory and practice.

Mr. Liang introduced the previous conferences and their achievements, and hoped that the experts and scholars would continue to share their insights with foresight, comprehensiveness and innovation, so as to jointly promote the development and improvement of the cause of the elderly. Deng Shixiong said that the World Chinese Long Term Care Consortium has been held in different regions every year since 2002 to promote the development of long-term care services in the Chinese region, and each conference has involved more than 500 scholars, policy makers, long-term care providers and other government, industry, academic and research experts from the four regions across the Taiwan Strait and internationally, and has received wide response in the field of long-term care.

 

Su Changcong said in his speech that Zhejiang Province, through government-led, policy-supported, society-participating and market-driven, has continuously increased the supply of health and elderly care services, strived to provide comprehensive and continuous medical, rehabilitation, nursing and long-term care services for the elderly, and initially formed a health and elderly care service system with multiple parties, multiple services and shared resources, which is interconnected with medical, health and nursing care. Medical care and long-term care for the elderly is a worldwide issue and an important part of Zhejiang's construction of a health China provincial demonstration area. As a province with a high level of aging and advanced ageing, we need to integrate service resources and speed up the construction of facilities; strengthen the leadership of science and technology to enhance service effectiveness; promote practical exploration and innovative service models; and strengthen team building to guarantee service quality.

 

More than 80 speakers from the United States, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and the mainland delivered brilliant keynote speeches. Supported by innovative technology, the conference transcribed the speakers' language in real time and presented them on the screen with Chinese and English subtitles synchronously, bringing a high-quality academic exchange experience to everyone. The conference focused on discussing and exchanging various types of advanced senior care service working models in Chinese regions of the world, especially around the construction of service systems and working mechanisms for care and maintenance combined with institutional senior care and in-place senior care (in-place senior care), focusing on the construction of institutional mechanisms such as linkage of government departments and social resources, collaboration between society and families, and synergy between senior care service system and medical service system, to carry out research, exploration and exchange, and promote the modernization of healthy senior care The conference will discuss the basic requirements, training methods and professional system of professional and technical personnel for healthy aging services, exchange methods and approaches to popularize healthy aging knowledge and skills among people at different levels of society, and explore ways to promote the professional quality of services and improve the ability of self-care; focus on new phenomena and issues such as culture, policy and ethics in the process of aging services, and discuss and exchange information from the perspective of life and philosophy. The three sub-forums were: Practice and Innovation of Long-term Care, Hospice and Quality of Long-term Care Services, and Long-term Care for Dementia. Experts and scholars gave lectures on the reform and innovation of elderly service development policy, financial policy planning of long-term care, long-term care model of medical and nursing care, hospice care in long-term care, multi-level and diversified elderly care integration model, construction of senior/dementia-friendly community, long-term care quality assurance and promotion, long-term care human resource training and development, prevention and delay of disability and dementia, family care and care, technology and culture, rural and remote areas. prevention and delay, family care and care, technology and culture, long-term care in rural and remote areas, organization and promotion of volunteer services, home care and long-term care insurance pilot, etc., interacting and exchanging, colliding and integrating with each other for the development of long-term care for the elderly.


During the conference, Zhejiang Geriatrics Union meeting and Zhejiang Geriatrics Specialist Union Academic Conference, Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taiwan, Zhejiang Geriatrics Young Scholars Forum and Yangtze River Delta Geriatrics Young Scholars Forum were also held.

 

Zhejiang Hospital added 1 new high-level medical association and 13 geriatric specialty alliances, further expanding the radiation circle of Zhejiang Geriatric Medicine Alliance, and making great contributions to the development of geriatric medicine in Zhejiang Province with the "1+6+40" medical association model, spreading the achievements and development trend of academic research in the field of geriatric medicine and promoting healthy aging.

Long-term care for the elderly has become an important part of the old-age security system and a difficult service point. As early as 2002, Liang Wanfu, Deng Shixiong, Gui Shixun, Sun Pengdart and Zhu Mingxia, the main organizers of civil organizations and social groups across the Taiwan Strait who are enthusiastic about the field of elderly care, initiated the World Chinese Regional Conference on Long-term Care with a strong sense of social responsibility. So far, the World Chinese Regional Long Term Care Consortium has held 16 conferences in Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai, Macau, Beijing and Hangzhou, playing an active role in promoting the development of long-term care for the elderly in the Chinese region.

 

In 2012, Zhejiang Hospital hosted the 9th World Conference on Long-term Care in the Chinese Region - "Workshop on Long-term Care for Dementia", which opened the way for Zhejiang Hospital to integrate long-term care with medical care, and took the lead in creating a hospital-community-home/elderly care system in the province with the regional general hospital as the core. It has taken the lead in creating a long-term care system of hospital-community-home/nursing institution with the regional general hospital as the core, providing whole person, whole family, whole process and whole team services for the elderly in different periods of life.



 

By successfully holding the 16th World Chinese Long-term Care Conference, Zhejiang Hospital not only builds a cooperation platform for information exchange, resource sharing, policy consultation, training, scientific research and academic discussion for all member units, but also, more importantly, will play a more important role in furthering the cooperation between personnel training and industry for elderly care services, promoting the reform and innovation of personnel training mode for elderly care services, and enhancing the education and service capacity of elderly care.
