The annual anointing clinic is back on Nov. 1

The cold wind is rising, it is the right time to take tonic! After the frost, it will be winter, as the saying goes: "winter tonic, come spring tiger". For many people in Hangzhou, winter tonic cream is like a once-a-year ritual. On November 1, the Department of Chinese Medicine of our hospital officially launched this year's cream clinic.

"When will the cream prescription be opened?"

Auntie Li came to consult with us specifically for her daughter.

Her daughter has had allergic rhinitis and asthma for many years, and she has been taking medication to maintain her condition for years, but when the weather is cool, her daughter always sneezes non-stop, and her daughter’s nose is blocked all day long, and she gets dizzy. Last year, Auntie Li was introduced by a friend and came to our TCM internal medicine department to try the cream prescription. She didn't expect to have a stable winter, and her nose was not blocked all the time, her sneezing was significantly reduced, and she felt that her breathing was much smoother.

In our TCM internal medicine clinic, in fact, just after the National Day, many people came to ask "when to open the cream ah". The "Cream" means "nourishment", " the cream formula, cover decoction of medicinal juice into fat liquid, and so nourish the five viscera and six internal organs of the dry and weak also". Dr. Yang Minchun, deputy director of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of our hospital, said that the cream prescription is made according to the individual's physique and disease factors, to identify the symptoms and determine the treatment method, according to the principles of ruler, minister, adjuvant and ambassador, and to select high-quality, small packages of authentic Chinese medicine and various auxiliary ingredients, and to prepare it, one for one, and to use the medicine according to the body. Cream formula can play a good effect of preventing and curing diseases, nourishing and prolonging life on the basis of tonic deficiency and supporting weakness, as in the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine: "If the righteousness exists within, evil cannot dry up".

In clinical practice, some diseases in respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, cardiovascular medicine, nephrology, oncology, endocrinology, gynecology, urology and dermatology can be treated with poultices. 

The history of the cream recipe is more than 60 years

The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine in our hospital belongs to the provincial key discipline of geriatric medicine, the construction unit of geriatric medicine in the 13th Five-Year Plan, and the hospital-level key discipline of geriatric debility in traditional Chinese and Western medicine. The department has a number of experts sitting in the clinic, and has special clinics such as "Chinese medicine breast disease, Chinese medicine brain disease, Chinese medicine male", etc. People in need can choose doctors according to their own situation. Our hospital has a history of more than 60 years, and patients can get "personalized" prescriptions when they come to the TCM internal medicine clinic.

 How do I get a prescription?

When you come to the TCM internal medicine clinic, you can enjoy the special service of the cream prescription. However, it is best to visit the clinic 1~2 weeks in advance to regulate the function of the spleen and stomach to create favorable conditions for the digestion and absorption of the cream, and to avoid or reduce the discomfort of taking the cream.

What dosage forms are available?

This year, the hospital will introduce a variety of dosage forms of poultices to facilitate the needs of different people:

1. Traditional poultice medicine: in celadon jars, 1~2 spoons at a time, with beautiful appearance and convenient storage.

2. Sliced ointment medicine: cut into slices, 1~2 slices at a time, easy to take.

3. Small package ointment medicine: one bag at a time, convenient to store, carry and take.

In addition, the Chinese pharmacy of our hospital has prepared various kinds of gums and auxiliary materials, such as Colla Corii Asini, Tortoise shell gum, Turtle shell gum, Deer horn gum, Yellow gelatin, high quality rock sugar, walnuts, black sesame, yellow wine, etc. Also, we will provide special "xylitol" type poultice medicine for high blood sugar patients, which is convenient to take.

For patients who are not suitable to use gums such as "gum, turtle shell gum", the hospital specially introduces small poultices, replacing gums with agar, etc. The dosage form is similar to small packages, and one small poultice can be taken for about one month, which is convenient for patients who need to take Chinese medicine for a longer period of time for some chronic diseases.
