Library Work System
The medical library is the hospital's literature information center, a professional and technical institution for medical treatment, teaching, research and management, and an important part of hospital informatization. With the tenet of "people-orientation" and "reader first, service paramount", it strives to perfect the service system, offer multi-level and multi-method reader services, and improve the utilization rate of the library's literature information resources.
1. With the tenet of "people-orientation" and "reader first, service paramount", it strives to perfect the service system, offer multi-level and multi-method reader services, and improve the utilization rate of the library's literature information resources.
2. Scope of application: All hospital employees (including medical staff, personnel who have received standardized residency training, interns and advanced students) are required to follow this system for relevant information services in the library.
3. Responsibilities:
3.1 Work under the direction of the section chief of science and education.
3.2 Order and collect medical books, journals, and materials.
3.3 Manage the library through keeping the library and books clean, neat, and well ventilated, as well as protecting books from mold, insects, and fire.
3.4 Strictly implement the library management system, stick to the posts, open the library on time, and carefully handle the procedures for borrowing books and periodicals.
3.5 Provide reference, consultation and information retrieval services for such work as medical treatment, teaching, research and prevention.
3.6 Develop bylaws for the library and implement them with the approval of relevant leaders.

5. Work description:
5.1 General principles of library work management
5.1.1 Employees, personnel who have received standardized residency training, interns and advanced students of the hospital could enter the library with their library cards or temporary cards; others will not be admitted without permission.
5.1.2 Readers are not allowed to bring in bags or personal publications without the permission of the administrator, but they could leave their bags in the repository of the library office.
5.1.3 Readers must be quiet in the library; smoking, spitting, eating and littering are strictly prohibited.
5.1.4 Readers must take care of the books and periodicals in the library; scribbling, defacement, tearing, cutting and other undesirable acts are strictly prohibited.
5.2 Collection and use of library cards
5.2.1 Library cards will be used only by the cardholders. The library card must be kept properly; if it's lost, the cardholder should come to the library immediately to report the loss. Otherwise, the cardholder will be held responsible for any fraudulent use or other consequences.
5.2.2 Before leaving the hospital, the borrower should return all books and periodicals and the library card.
5.3 Borrowing of books and periodicals
5.3.1 The borrowing of books is limited to the readers themselves, and cannot be done by family members or others.
5.3.2 Employees of the hospital are allowed to borrow five volumes of professional books and five volumes each of Chinese and foreign periodicals; interns and advanced students are allowed to borrow two volumes of professional books and two bound volumes of Chinese periodicals.
5.3.3 Books can be borrowed for three months, and can be renewed once if needed for work, but the borrower must come to the library to complete the relevant procedures. In case of special needs, the library reserves the right to call for prompt return.
5.3.4 Chinese and foreign periodicals and reference books published in the latest year can only be read in the library and cannot be borrowed.
5.3.5 Borrowed books and periodicals should be taken care of and kept properly. In the event of damage or loss, the borrower should compensate the library according to the relevant rules.
5.4 Compensation of books and periodicals

5.4.1.1 If a book is defaced, or its contents are marked, altered or underlined, a fine of 10% to 20% of the original price of the book will be imposed, depending on the degree of damage. And the book remain the property of the library.
5.4.1.2 In case of loss, the borrower should compensate the library for the same edition of the book or periodical; if such compensation is unachievable, a fine of the original price of general Chinese and foreign books and periodicals and a fine of twice the original price of important books or periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages will be imposed.
5.4.2 If the lost books or periodicals are recovered, they should be returned to the library and the paid compensation can be refunded.
5.5 Library management
5.5.1 Readers can enter the library with their library cards.
5.5.2 It is forbidden to bring bags or items harmful to books into the library.
5.5.3 Readers must take good care of the books and periodicals and marking, tearing, and hiding are prohibited.
5.5.4 Please put books and periodicals to their original places or on reading tables after use; keep the library quiet and tidy.
5.5.5 Smoking is strictly prohibited in the library.
