Library Information Service System

In order to maximize the existing resources and network resources, we make active efforts to seek inter-library cooperation and broaden access to resources, so as to provide better information services for teaching and research. Information service helps for speeding up information exchange, making more efficient use of information, maximizing the needs of medical workers for information, and playing a better role of information in medical treatment, teaching and research. Therefore, the system is formulated.

 

1. Purpose: In order to maximize the existing resources and network resources, we make active efforts to seek inter-library cooperation and broaden access to resources, so as to provide better information services for teaching and research. Information service helps for speeding up information exchange, making more efficient use of information, maximizing the needs of medical workers for information, and playing a better role of information in medical treatment, teaching and research. Therefore, the system is formulated.

2. Scope of application: All hospital employees (including medical staff, personnel who have received standardized residency training, interns and advanced students) are required to follow this system for relevant information services in the library.

3. Responsibilities:

3.1 Librarians are responsible for formulating the information service system for Zhejiang Hospital, carrying out regular maintenance of the database information system, and providing information retrieval, information consultation, and document delivery services.

3.2 Visitors should abide by the rules and regulations of the information service system, make proper use of the public accounts of the databases and information resources purchased by Zhejiang Hospital, the databases and document resources, and respect copyright protection.

4. Definition:

4.1 Information Retrieval Service: Information retrieval is a process in which information can be found out according to the special needs of users after it is being processed, sorted and organized, and stored in a certain way. Information retrieval can be categorized as document, data, and fact by storage and target. The key to information retrieval is the use of information.

4.2 Reference Service: It happens when librarians provide facts, data and document clues for readers through assisting in searching, answering inquires and special document reports when users are using documents and seeking knowledge and information. Practically speaking, the reference service is to provide the readers with specific documents, knowledge and access to document in a targeted manner through individual answers, based on the documents.

5. Work description:

5.1 E-reading Room Management

5.1.1 The e-reading room is designed for the staff of Zhejiang Hospital, trainees for standardized residency, and trainee doctors to search, browse the medical documents, and read e-publications.

5.1.2 During opening hours, it is prohibited to conduct computer activities unrelated to the business of Zhejiang Hospital, including chatting online, watching films, browsing illegal websites, and playing computer games.

5.1.3 All the people involved should care for the instruments and devices in the e-reading room, not move the computer or pull the joints and connecting lines at will. Any damage to the instruments or devices caused by abnormal use will be compensated according to the degree of damage.

5.1.4 You are not allowed to bring your own CDs and software for installation. The use of a USB flash disk for downloading information must be approved by the management. After that, you can download it from the controlling computer. The printing services are also available.

5.1.5 You should check that the computer is working properly before you turn it on. If it is not, you should inform the management immediately. When you switch off the computer, you should only leave it after the confirmation by the management.

5.1.6 The principle of one person for one computer should be followed. You should obey the arrangement of management if necessary.

5.2 Information Retrieval Service

5.2.1 It refers to the service in which the library staff do the retrieval and submit the results to users according to their needs.

5.2.2 The establishment of a library retrieval system enables users to understand the common problems through the instructions of the system.

5.2.3 With various forms of booklist consulting services, the library enables users to find out the collected document and borrowing history through a machine-readable catalog.

5.2.4 The document search service is only available to information relevant to the teaching, research and academic disciplines of Zhejiang Hospital.

5.2.5 The results of document retrieval service is only for users' reference and not for other purposes.

5.3 Use of Database Resources

5.3.1 The library is responsible for buying relevant database document resources according to its actual conditions and the teaching and research need of Zhejiang Hospital.

5.3.2 The website of the digital library database ishttp://www.medbooks.com.cn.

5.3.2.1 The periodical database includes Wanfang Medical Database, CHKD full-text database of CNKI, and the foreign periodical database integrating PubMed, Elscvier, Springer, Wilcy, OVID, and EBSCO.

5.3.2.2 The Human Health Clinical Knowledge Database includes the western medicine knowledge database and the traditional Chinese medicine knowledge database. The former one includes sub-databases such as the monograph database, case database, drug database, guideline database, video database, and chart database. The latter one various sub-databases including the disease database, acupuncture database, and prescription database.

5.3.3 The digital library of Zhejiang Hospital is only for internal use.
